Special Features of the Original RACKIT™ System

Note: Original Component Racks, Cassette Plus, CD-180 and DVD/VHS units have been discontinued -- Please use RACKIT System 19 instead.

Original Record Racks and Cabinets, "45" and CD-90 units, Tabletops, Dollies and Bases remain available.

Modularity: Drawer units are 5, 7 1/2, 10, or 15 inches high--corresponding to the heights of the larger RACKIT System 19 units (see System 19 brochure). The Record Racks are 14" high. Combining these units affords great flexibility in creating a stack of the desired height.

The Record Rack and the Record Cabinet hold 12" LPs and Laser Discs as well as large books and boxed CD sets. The Record Racks are made with crossbeams set back from the front to make removing a record easy. A little fingertip pressure on the top corner of an album tilts it right out. The Record Cabinet with glass door is symmetrical top and bottom- -just turn it over if you want the door to open the other way. These units stack up to five high on a Dolly or six high on a Base.

The CD drawers are divided into compartments, each holding 10 standard CD jewel boxes standing on edge with the titles showing. Each CD-90 drawer has three compartments, and each CD-180 drawer has nine. Multiple-CD boxes will also fit in the compartments. The dividers can be reconfigured or removed to create long compartments holding up to 30 CDs each, making browsing and frequent rearranging easier.

The DVD/VHS drawer has nine compartments holding a total of about 40 DVDs or 22 VHS cassettes.

The Cassette Plus drawer holds a variety of formats. It has nine compartments, each holding six standard audio cassettes, for a total of 54 per drawer. Each compartment will also hold five 8mm video cassettes, four VHS-C cassettes, eight DAT cassettes, six MiniDisc jewel boxes, about 36 3 1/2" floppy discs, numerous 3 x 5 index cards, plus miscellaneous paraphernalia.

The "45" drawer has three compartments each holding 50 7"-diameter records in their paper sleeves, for a total of 150 per drawer. It will also hold 7" tape reels.

Component Racks are available in four heights and hold equipment up to 16 1/2" wide. For wider gear ust RACKIT System 19.

Dolly, Base, and Tabletop: Stack your units on theDolly for mobility or on the Base for stationary installation. Finish each stack off with a Tabletop. Note: The Tabletop provides a sturdy platform for substantial loads and is always recommended.

There are five different drawer units available--the CD-90, CD-180, DVD/VHS, Cassette Plus, and "45" units. The CD-180 and DVD/VHS units are identical except for the drawers. All units feature wood-on-wood drawer runners, waxed for smooth operation. The drawers pull out to a stop and can be removed by lifting the front. Removable dividers partition drawers into compartments holding a number of discs or tape cassettes standing on edge.

Safety clips connect the top unit to unit(s) below it. Reduces risk of "file drawer syndrome"--the tipping of a top unit if more than one drawer is pulled out.
